With the unusual phenomenon of two simultaneous vacancies on the Massachusetts SJC, public attention is being focused on the judicial selection process. This panel discussion by two active Massachusetts Superior Court judges as well as a member of the Judicial Nominating Commission will help provide some perspective on how lawyers can make the career switch from advocate to jurist, and what the process is for selection of judges in our Commonwealth, in which judicial selection is neither purely political nor purely elective, but is mediated by an independent non-partisan commission charged with ensuring quality and judicial character on the state bench.
