Professor Michael Klarman, the Charles Warren Professor of American Legal History at HLS, will be the guest of the HLSA of MA. Professor Klarman will discuss the recent degradation of American democracy, illustrations of it, causes of it (including the Supreme Court's contributions), and possible remedies. His talk is entitled "The Degradation of American Democracy--Causes and Cures." Professor Klarman is an American legal historian and scholar of constitutional law. He wrote a Foreward to the Harvard Law Review of the 2019 term of the Supreme Court, entitled "The Degradation of American Democracy-And the Court." Klarman also recently testified before President Biden's Supreme Court reform commission about changing the makeup and operations of the Supreme Court.
